Come & explore Hampshire's newest attraction the atmospheric period street scenes within the architectuarally stunning building, the backdrop for the county's wonderful collections of 19th and 20th century life. Wander down the cobbled streets, chat with the staff in period costume and discover shop windows crammed with everything from hats to tabacco tins. There is even a traditional pub serving our very own Milestones Ale. Hampshire's industrial heritage is represented by factories housing objects from all over the county, included Thornycroft lorries and Wallis and Steevens steam rollers. There are over 20,000 objects are on show together for the first time. The second part of the museum updates the story to the 1930's. Shop fronts display objects that transformed 20th century living, such as the wireless, the car, gas and electrical appliances. it is also the new home of the AA Collection. Children will love the cobbled streets and the old fashioned shops, as well as the three interactive areas and the highly original indoor play area, The Play Store, sculpted by Andy Frost. The À10million museum has been built by Hampshire County Council in partnership with Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
